Whether your party is a wedding, anniversary, birthday, holiday, funeral or celebration of life, it will be significantly enhanced with the talents of an experienced and sensitive pianist, vocalist or keyboard musician. Encompassing the styles of classical to pop, jazz and rock, Bob Duquesnel (Duke-n-l) is the consummate solo performer and band leader for these various idioms. From a small intimate atmosphere to a large outdoor environment, he is able to adapt and provide, if necessary, a piano, organ or any other musical sound from portable synthesizer instruments. The dynamic range of the event will accompany your actions from soft dinner music, to lively instrumental cocktail music, to exciting vocal dance music.
When performing with other musicians or as a “One Man Band”, Bob provides the set-up of a DJ allowing recorded music to be played as much as is appropriate.
Whether your function is formal or casual it is important to have a pianist / keyboard musician that underscores the event and understands your tastes in music. Familiar melodies played in an interesting fashion and at appropriate volume enhance any occasion and add emphasis to its purpose. While there are many pianists that perform the standards, it’s harder to find one who also plays the contemporary hits of the 80’s through the new century which appeal to younger audiences.
While the ambiance of a beautiful grand piano cannot be eclipsed, when logistics dictate the need to use a keyboard, this provides its own advantages. Amongst them include the guarantee of good intonation, an ease of the desired sound volume with the option of remote speakers, and the ability to kick it up significantly if the audience accelerates.
There has never been a better time to be a keyboard musician with the wealth of quality sounds available. While others have resorted to tracks and other playback devices, I still approach this genre from a long and rich live performance background.
The band name I use is “Flight Crew” signifying a group which is adaptable to an audience’s destination. Any combination of drums, guitars, sax and vocals supplement my keyboard music.
